Scout Motors is unveiling their new vision of the brand this evening at 5PM EST; it should be interesting to see what they’ve come up with. One journalist I respect has been able to peek behind the curtain a little bit, and says he’s very excited about it. I’m not currently in the market for a new vehicle, but we’ll see how this goes.

Every time I see this one I think of your expertise and can visualize a diamond in the rough turned into a gem. I would love to have the front clip but the seller will not separate the two.

Butch, are you talking about that green Travelette? What a beautiful truck.
William J. Miller says:
I must have copied the wrong link…yep the green one looks pristine, this one needs work and I can’t help but to salivate each time I see the extra front clip it comes with. It’s the same color as my Travelette in Metro White…but he does not want to sell them individually… :(

THAT one. Yes, I saw that last week (I think?) and salivated over the price. This brings to mind there things:
1. A 60’s Travelall-based ambulance up in Massachusetts with an added 12″ plug between the first and second doors, laying on its frame in a forest. Barn doors, beautiful etched rear glass, a fiberglass cap on the roof with lights…but it was, I have no doubt, a rusted corpse. Still for sale, I think.
2. A nice father/son duo selling a NOS pair of C-series fenders in perfect shape at Nationals 2 years ago; I think they were asking $1200 for the pair. They were tempting, but also cut for a ’68 (with front marker lights) and I wisely passed. Which was good, because a day later I found the rear glass I needed at Super Scout Specialists and had the cash on hand to buy it.
3. A ’68 front clip in very good shape at Harvester Homecoming this year, which I came very close to buying. But the ’68 grille insert is shaped differently than my ’63 and thus would not have fit properly.
I’m sorry he won’t split the parts up for you—is your front clip in rough shape?
William J. Miller says:
Hi Bill, no my front clip is in pretty good condition albeit a small section on the lower part (result of the cowl). But it’s the same color as mine and same year (68). An extra clip in that condition and color is a difficult find…hence my disappointment when the seller would not separate the two…
