Video

Over the last thirteen years, I’ve been scripting, shooting, editing and producing short and long-form videos at WRI. This includes everything from hauling rented gear across London in a black cab to riding a tractor across the Chaco to shoot video of cattle farms. I’ve also acted as stage manager, director of photography, editor, and foley artist. Here’s a selection of videos I’ve produced.

Stories That Changed the World

WRI, 2025-2026

This is a video campaign looking back at WRI's historical initiatives and highlighting some of our key accomplishments. After writing a grant proposal I was given a chunk of institutional funding to concept and produce three videos. I worked with a journalist to identify and interview key people within each project, and shot all of the U.S.-based video, while coordinating remote shoots in other countries. With the files in hand, I assembled, edited and published the first three in 2025.

Along with the videos, I produced and designed accompanying brochures, the website, and a set of freestanding display panels with inset videoscreens.

The Greenhouse Gas Protocol is the global standard for measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions.

Global Forest Watch is a groundbreaking platform using satellites and advanced mapping algorithms to monitor tree cover loss and protect the world's forests.

Initiative 20X20 is a regional partnership aimed at restoring 50 million hectares of degraded land across Latin America.

In 2026 with money remaining from the grant, I researched, wrote and produced two more features:

EMBARQ was WRI's sustainable transport program, working locally to help emerging cities build clean, accessible and safe transport systems around the world.

The New Climate Economy used science and engagement to prove that climate action can be an enormous growth opportunity for the entire world.

Stories to Watch

WRI, 2023-2026

For more than 20 years, WRI has produced a yearly look ahead at the stories we think will be important across the environmental landscape. When I first joined the organization, it was delivered via PowerPoint on a TV monitor in front of a live audience. in 2022 I took over production and overhauled the presentation, pre-recording a choreographed presentation in front of a 50'x14' LED video wall. During this process I produce 3-4 feature videos shot remotely, editing each one into a standalone story to later be inserted into the full presentation. On shooting day, I handle stage direction, script supervision, and visual direction, and then work directly with the editor to build the final presentation for broadcast.

The 2026 presentation went back to a multiple-story format, featuring insert stories from Kenya, Brazil, and India. Based on lessons learned in previous years, I reduced the overall budget by one third with careful planning, stage direction, and pre-production.

The 2025 presentation focused specifically on the challenges and benefits of climate finance—a major departure from the format of years past. I produced insert stories filmed in St. Vincent & the Grenadines, South Africa, Kenya, India and Brazil.

The 2024 presentation featured stories on the climate, food, the energy grid, and urban heat, and introduced the inclusion of insert stories filmed in the Netherlands, Kenya, Virginia, and India.

The 2023 presentation featured stories on the energy crisis, tropical forests, development financing, and US climate action.

Each of the insert stories were cut down into standalone 3-4 minute videos and promoted separately, with captioning in several languages.

WRI Institutional Priority videos

WRI, 2026

These videos are part of a series outlining WRI's thematic priorities for the year. Each script is developed in collaboration with experts from our country offices, and we work with outside vendors to shoot the video. I handle editing and production at this end, assembling the footage, gathering B-roll, animating graphics and text, and publishing. These videos are accompanied by shorter 1-minute cutdowns for social media.

Stories to Watch Continuing Series

WRI, 2025

These videos were part of an ongoing series looking at other stories not covered in the main Stories to Watch presentation. Here the idea was the same: develop each script with country representatives, organize and oversee remote video shoots, and assemble footage, graphics, and other elements into each video.

I shot the Aviation Fuel video in a cornfield with my daughter as key grip and worked with vendors in Nairobi and the Netherlands to film the other two. These videos are also cut into shorter 1-minute social media verticals.

Urgency Meets Opportunity was filmed in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Debate Over Aviation Fuel was filmed locally in Northern Virgina.
Accelerating a Clean Energy Transition was shot in the Netherlands.

Unlocking the Inclusive Growth Story of the 21st Century

New Climate Economy, 2018

As the second video in a series for NCE, I created the initial concept for this video, creating storyboards, editing the script, and building the illustrations. I used a similar approach as the first, this time shooting all of the subjects locally during a Commissioners meeting in Washington. Using the same animator/editor, I developed the script from an outline started with my client, storyboarded and developed all of the illustrations and assets, and organized a three-camera shoot with some familiar faces.

Bike Sharing Can Improve Mobility & Quality of Life

WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, 2018

This video involved a shooting trip to Bogota, Colombia, where we traversed the city on bikes and public transit to highlight their growing infrastructure. I storyboarded, shot, and edited this piece.

The Sustainable Infrastructure Imperative

New Climate Economy, 2017

I created the initial concept for this video, creating storyboards, editing the script, and building the illustrations. Then I organized a video shoot with each of the subjects in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development building in London, which involved building a blacked-out corner behind a piano in a Victorian drawing room for a three-camera setup. With footage in hand, I worked with an animator to bring the video to life, building new assets and editing the flow of the narrative as we built it out.

How companies and banks are fighting deforestation with Global Forest Watch Pro

Global Forest Watch Pro, 2017

Traveling to Paraguay for this video, I shot interviews in locations ranging from the roof of the Sudameris Bank in Asunción to a cattle farm in the wilderness of the Chaco. This was mostly a shooting and editing job, and my first experience shooting with a drone in the Southern hemisphere—which immediately tried to fly itself home.

Back in the U.S., I edited the footage together, sourcing inexpensive B-roll to keep the costs below budget and on schedule.

Restoring Degraded Land To Benefit People and Planet

WRI Forest and Equity programs, 2014-2018

As one of the first video campaigns I worked on at WRI, I produced a series of videos explaining a series of challenges and solutions facing indigenous populations, land ownership, and their impact on forest protection and restoration. On this project I served as director and producer, helping develop and edit scripts, working with outside illustrators, animators, and editors to build each video. My roles included scriptwriting, storyboarding, and audio recording.
